Mini-Skool – A Child’s Place based in Mississauga, Ontario, knows that from the moment of conception your baby’s brain is working hard. By 12 weeks, he/she has already grown milliions of neurons, the building blocks of the brain. In other words, your baby comes into the world ready to learn and will be naturally curious as soon as they open their eyes or hear your voice – which is why Mini Skool has a special program designed for infants.
Studies have shown that babies learn at an amazing rate (even while they’re napping), which is why it’s so important to take advantage of this stage of development. Even if your child seems to be inactive, they are scanning the environment constantly for audio and visual clues to help make sense of their surroundings.
Infant child care at Mini-Skool is designed to create a warm, nurturing and safe environment where infants are encouraged to learn, grow and explore using all of their senses. Their qualified staff seek to create a trusting relationship with each child, in order to help him/her develop a strong sense of belonging. As you know a contented infant will be more confident to explore his/her environment.
Aside from being able to explore their indoor environment and playground, teachers regularly take infants for neighbourhood walks to the local library or parks. Also, as a part of the program, your child will enjoy stories and music throughout the day to stimulate their development. The school also uses the Infant Sign Language and Baby Language programs to help give your child a head start in developing communication skills and different ways to express their thoughts.
The Childcare Centre will accept infants as early as two months old. They allow for gradual transition by having both parent and child visiting the program regularly before the first day of care. During this time, your child gets accustomed to the friendly faces of the staff and the classroom environment. By the time your infant starts he/she would have developed some sense of belonging which sets the stage for learning and engagement.
At Mini-Skool, the staff believes that each child is unique and will learn at their own pace with encouragement and consistency. Hence care is individualized to the child’s needs. In addition, teachers continually provide parents with daily updates of their child’s progress.
